Our commitment
The Caisse Desjardins de l'Administration et des Services publics has been a proud partner of the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ) since 2021.
Our partnership with the SFPQ enables the Caisse to be present and offer events tailored to their members’ interests, and to be proactive in meeting their needs.
Our involvement
- We offer:
- A scholarship program exclusively for SFPQ members and their children. A total of $20,000 will be awarded
- Support for the SFPQ in its sustainable development initiatives
- Support to the Comité national des jeunes (CNJ), by participating in youth events, the Journée de la relève, regional tours and podcasts
- A contribution to their favourite cause, the Fondation des pompiers du Québec pour les grands brûlés
- We also offer customized conferences for SFPQ members on financial education, as well as exclusive presentations to new members.
Description
The SFPQ was officially founded in September 1962 to represent Quebec government employees. However, union organization began in 1961 with the establishment of the Syndicat national des fonctionnaires provinciaux du Québec.
The SFPQ is an independent union with some 40,000 members across Quebec, including some 30,000 come from the Quebec public service and are divided as follows: almost 26,000 clerical and technical staff and about 4,000 workers in various departments and agencies. The remaining 10,000 members come from the parapublic sector.
Their mission
- Defend members’ interests in their relations with the employer;
- Defend the economic, political and social interests of members and the development of their living conditions;
- Promote public services as a democratic means of meeting people’s needs;
- Act as a social and political pressure group with no political affiliation, promoting a social project based on democracy, sustainable development, sharing, equity, solidarity and social progress.
