Our commitment

The Caisse Desjardins de l’Administration et des Services publics has been involved with SP Canada, Capitale-Nationale since 2018.

Our agreement enables the Caisse not only to support the organization in its mission, but also to help it carry out structuring projects.

Our involvement

  • Our presence:
    • In providing financial support to the organization
    • With the participation of our teams in the MS Walk
    • As a partner in the Vent de fraîcheur renovation project
    • By taking part in activities organized for volunteers

Description

In 1948, a group of Canadians came together to lay the foundation of the organization. They worked together to raise funds for MS research, energized by the creation of a similar society in the United States.
Evelyn Gotlieb Opal and Harry H. Bell, both diagnosed with MS, were driving forces behind the initiative. Their passion and enthusiasm endured throughout Canada, with thousands of volunteers and professionals contributing to our growth over the decades. In 2023, we celebrate the progress and growth we’ve achieved over the last 75 years.

The organization is grateful to the 13,500 volunteers who deliver support programs, raise funds and take social action toward keeping this momentum going.

Their mission & Values

Inspired by the vision of a world free of multiple sclerosis, the organization has made it its mission to mobilize the MS community to make significant progress.

The organization invests on behalf of a dynamic and diverse community that includes people living with MS, their families and friends, volunteers, donors, researchers, clinicians and many others. By harnessing their energies, they will ensure that those affected by MS have access to support systems and programs that will enable them to lead rewarding and fulfilling lives. They also ensure that MS researchers have the resources they need to continue learning more about the disease, and to help improve treatment and care for people with MS.

Their work is guided by five core values. They aim to be:

  • Impact-driven. We make a difference.
  • Collaborative. We work together.
  • Compassionate. We help.
  • Bold. We think big.
  • Resilient. We don’t give up.

Their vision

They’re inspired by the vision of a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS). They work with researchers, donors, partners, volunteers, and people living with MS to bring about positive change. Whether improving the lives of Canadians today or supporting high-quality research that aims to end MS tomorrow, they work together as a community.
They connect the MS community to programs, information, research, and its impacts and to each other while they are on their MS journey.
